The mission of the International Association for Hip Hop Education is to assure the continued worldwide growth and development of hip hop and hip hop education. As a means of advancing its mission, International Association for Hip Hop Education initiates programs which nurture and promote the understanding and appreciation of Hip Hop and its heritage, provide leadership to educators regarding curricula, aesthetics and performance; assists teachers and practitioners with information and resources; and takes an active part in organizing clinics, festivals and symposia at local, regional, national and international levels. International Association for Hip Hop Education also promotes the application of Hip Hop principles in music materials and methods at all levels of education; communicates informational segments of the public including artists, educators, students, enthusiasts, the music industry and the general public; and encourages education which provides the knowledge, skills and materials vital to a career in hip hop. Further, the International Association for Hip Hop Education encourages research, provides financial assistance, and advocates for hip hop in all appropriate forums, thereby building a larger group of both audience and artists.

- To develop a standardized curriculum for hip hop educators that promotes the use of hip hop as an art form to teach all areas of study.
- To host a yearly conference with hip hop educators worldwide with vendors (studio equipment manufacturers, hip hop apparel, bookstores, etc.), industry leaders, and artists.

- To publish a yearly journal with contact information for all hip hop educators and scholars with articles on current issues, book reviews, and current courses of study.
- To seek to obtain approval from MENC and other educational organizations that provide standards in education for specific areas of study.
- To serve as a networking tool for all interested in furthering the use of hip hop it’s creative techniques and culture as a rubric for education.
