We are extending invitations to scholars, authors, educators, artists, and individuals we feel would help aid the development of hip hop as an expression.  There are 3 membership levels: individual, corporate and student chapter. 2008 Hip Hop Education Conference

Join us on September, 26 2008 at at the National Music Center in Washington DC (801 K St. NW).  

Come together with educators, scholars, authors, filmmakers, artists, journalists, students, publishers, photographers, industry leaders, aficionados, and lovers of hip hop culture for a full day of workshops, panels, and screenings to enrich your knowledge and awareness of hip hop culture and to connect with like minded professionals to help further the goal of bringing hip hop back to its creative, educational, and functional state.   Download additional conference Information

IAHHE Summer Program 2008
 

This year's IAHHE summer program was a joyous expression of positive energy and student identity.

 


June 2008 Fundraiser!
 

On June 3rd 2008 the IAHHE in collaboration with the BE Community Foundation will be holding a fundraising event at Mahogany Restaurant 2001 11th St NW, Washington, DC 20001. The purpose of the event is to raise capital for the on-going activities of each organization. Donations can be earmarked for each organization seperately and the mission and activities of each organization will be presented.

The WES Group Jazz and Hip Hop Project wil perform and facilitators from the IAHHE and BE Community Summer/After-School Programs will be giving a demonstration as well.


New Friendship charter school summer and after school parternship

During the Summer of 2007 and the Fall 2007 and Spring 2008 school year, IAHHE provided curriculum enrichment in hip hop education forthe Friendship Public Charter School. We conducted freestyle ciphers, taught students the basics of deejaying, emceeing, and grafitti art.
